It's a longshot, but someone out there might have one.
If anyone has an old Xbox lying around, all I want is the drive...
There are 3 types of drives. And I'll take any.
Thompson: Has a long 'penile' shape in the drive
Phillips: Like thompson, but smaller shape.
Samsung: Has the shape, but two holes at the end.
If anyone has one and is willing to sell please let me know ASAP.
Cheers,
Brett
ill have to check, but im 99% sure that xbox dvd's are the same as normal dvdroms. I know they use standard cables, its wether they use the same molex adapter for power that im not sure. Its on my pc, i got a movie on modding the xbox. Ill check it tomorow when i finish reinstalling.
Otherwise, those drives are 70bob at strathfield car radio. And i can get em for 50 ;).

Thanks Hal..
Are they official XBOX Drives? Or normal dvd ones?
Um, They arnt official DVD roms for xbox. But they are DVDroms. You'll have to take the broken xbox dvdrom down, and see if the ports are the same.
I could tell you, but i cant get winmedia 9 to work as you'll see in the 'codecs' thread of the technical forum.
nah the power adaptors are different which sux..... i was thinkin the same thing as you Hal and it dont work, you cant get no adaptors or n e thing!

People want the drivers (other than the thompson) because they can read CD-R formats.
