Okay, I'm annoyed with steam and that everyone else seems to know how to get around it.

I had it installed and running fine on lan mode for all the games on it, yet each time I tried running through it at CCGL it was always looking for user tickets.

How do you get around this? Cause I noticed other people at CCGL seemed to have no problem.

do you have to add the /nomaster switch in the command line?
or is there some other way around it.

Cause I'd like to get a few games of Natural Selection going at the next CCGL but if steam is stuffed then I don't think I'll bother going.

i think the problem was u were trying to use the official version of steam... which causes all sorts of problems... we were all running a modified version which is available @ CCGL with the filename somthing like 'cs1.6+z-bot.exe' (it's a few hundred meg)

grab that and run that... as for using steam on lan, u need to make sure that all the games u want to run are 100% updated and that you are not using som1 else's account... this will cause a steamID user tickets error...
so before the next lan u need to dl steam yourself @ home, install it and set it up with your own CD keys etc... then @ ccgl u can grab the data files for the games if u don't want to download them yourself... (there quite big afaik)

actually, that cracked version is NOT steam. its counter-strike 1.6 BETA hacked so that you do not require steam to play it.
coogle most likely has the latest version, and can't play because for some reason we're still using the hacked version of 1.6 BETA, EVEN THOUGH THE ACTUAL THING SUPPORTS OFFLINE PLAY NOW!

there are too many problems with trying to use the official version for the comp... if som1 hasn't updated steam and cs completely, or if they have logged out of their steam account, they will be unable to access it AT ALL until they get back to a net connection...

this isn't a big problem @ lans in the us as net connections are common there...

I did have the 'official' version all nice and done,

ended up using the cracked version.

But for all the other games as well like NS and such I noticed some other people playing but it seemed to be through steam, not just the hacked CS version.

I found this page...

Oh and for just downloading the games I want to play there, it doesn't work until the steam 'offline' version has recognised them you can't use them either.
