WTB: CPU & Mobo (together) & car CD player

I wanna upgrade my pc and i'm leaning P4.... obviously want a fairly current one but before i forked out for a new one i thought i'd come on here and see who's selling.

If it's AMD i'll still consider coz i'm not a fanboy... and i was especially interested in zT's p4 but he doesnt seem to be interested because he's not replying to PM's or his thread.... and I'm [b]REEEEAAAALLLLYYYY] interested in lorenzo's AMD64 except he'll have sold it in two weeks time i reckon so i can't get that even though i'd very much like to for $500 :(


So who's got a CPU and mobo they wanna sell?




also i'm after a cheap cd player for my car.

never overclocked.... plainley cause was in server and never needed more grunt....

idols all the time... and has a shim on the cpu to prevent core being crushed via the massive heatsink..

if i was getting that, i'd just purchase the CPU, since my motherboard supports tbred core amd athlonXP's.

for those who may be interested i'll be selling my current PC's mobo and CPU and probably RAM too if i get a new mobo/cpu/ram to try and lower the impact that it has on my cash flow :P

sure, every ad i saw for their xplod. gear it was all at a rock bottom price and came with free speakers but still i thought they were good...

if i got this clarion one would i just be able to plug it all in to my toyota cressida and away i go, instant audio?

or do i have to fiddle around and buy different cables and get it professionally installed?

because if possible i'm just after something i can just do this -

unscrew old tape drive and radio
take out old tape drive and radio

plug in new cd player
screw in new cd player
turn on car

listen to the compact disc goodness :)

It depends on the plug on the back of your current head deck as to whether it needs professional install or not.

i've never had a problem with em... good midrange sound that produce reasonable bass... but i'm gettin rid of em and getting alpine 6" to go with the new subs as soon as i get the moolah

i have no intention of replacing the speakers in my cressida, the stock ones kick ass...

but i dont wanna spend too much because i'll sell the car in a heartbeat when i can get finance for a bike...

best place for a cheap head unit is ebay, thats where i got mine and it has never had an issue in the 2 years ive had it.

xplod r -...omg...so so -...im glad that people do know that :lol:

dont bother replacing speakers until you have got a head unit in ure car, a decent head unit will make all the difference to quality of sound.

Ive got cheap 4" kenwoods up front, and some $80 jaycar splits up back at 80w RMS....non amped though...straight off the head unit so i am not getting the full quality of sound that I should be...but meh...i cbf buying an amp.

Alpine, Pioneer, JVC, and some sony are all good.

Alpine and Pionner being the top . to get...if i had lots and lots of $$$$ id get a nice mp3/wma alpine flip-down unit with graphical display...~drools~...

go ebay, best bet for a cheap NEW head unit WITH manufacturere warranty. save $$$$ on retail.

and if clarion are even OK (sony xplod even if theyre - would probably be good enough for me) then it's fine. as long as it plays cd's, has some form of equaliser or bass/treble control then its all good

I've browsed the car audio section out of interest for when I get a car/can drive and Ebay has been cheap..

Some good quality stuff goes there aswell.

but i'm only after a cheap secondhand one if possible. that's why i came here first.

if i want a brand new one i'll get the pioneer one i saw that can play mp3's for only $299 and it comes with two speakers.

i have a clarion amp sittin in the back of the go kart and it actually makes the xplodes sittin in there sound good,

speshially when its playing the fully sick mario theme
