Okies for those of you who don’t know we have been PROCRASTINATING now for some months about the UGC.

Due to a number of reasons we have been postponing… basically, until the database is functional, we are able to guarantee that this comp is run perfectly and time frame doesn’t discriminate we wont run it. We are working towards a start time in January

We can however fill you in on the details that are confirmed.

The Prizes are as follows;
1st Place $1000.00
2nd Place $400.00
3rd Place $100.00

How do you get win this ?

Well as the name indicates were looking for the person who is the best player over a range of existing games / genre’s.

A list of possible games used in the competition will be posted at the Start of the Competition.
Out of this list of possible games we will choose 12 games.

The UGC will run over 6 lans and dates for those lans will be confirmed at the start of the Competition.

Each lan we will run a competition for the 2 chosen games with comps starting Friday to Saturday and running the finals on Saturday evening.

Eg UGC Round 1 CCGL # 21 1) Barbie Winter Sports Multiplayer
2) Monopoly LAN


The top 10 finishers in each game will receive points from 1st to 10th place and will be added to the Competition Table at the end of each LAN.

At the end of the UGL players will be able to nominate their 10 best results for the total points tally so if you have a shocker you can drop 2 rounds.

Players are able to register for the UGC after it has started but will be unable to replay any individual comps they have missed.
Players can enter in UGC up to the first 6 rounds then new players will not allowed to enter.

At the 6th and final lan players will nominate their best 10 scores ( if you have only scored points in 8 events then all 8 event will be totalled) and the prizes will be given then and there.

Attempts at cheating will not be tolerated for a second and if there is any doubt what so ever then the individual in question will be disqualified immediately. Note that doubt is the key word here which means there only has to be reasonable justification of improper actions and there will be no recourse for anyone disqualified. We are protecting the integrity of all players who enter the competition.

Guidelines for each game will be made available prior to each event.

I'm up for the UGC, but to be honest, to save yourself a lot of time and hassle you should just hand over 1st prize to me coz we all know who's gonna win it baby 8) :lol:

Can you not announce what games will be played before comp starts. I would like to see a couple of 'new' release games make it into the comp. Nothing better then playing a game against opponents when no-ones had months to practise at the game.

I thought it was originally best 10 out of 12 games that you tally your score from. Now its 11/12? Aww... steep. Better be no driving games (or flying).. which brings up the point of steering wheels and flight sticks...

I think the UGC should have its own section on the forums when its done listing all the scores so ppl can look back and show their friends how well they did in each game, etc. Finalists could get a UGC shirt perhaps?

Whats the database got to do with anything? I've often heard mentions of this all knowing database, but a simple spreadsheet for example would do the job. UGC was originally mentioned when? CCGL10? Then set for CCGL15 or 16? I think those dates are pretty close :cry:

All individual based games? Any team based? Any confirmation on what types, and how of many of each (3x FPS, 2x RTS, etc)

there must be at least one game from evey genre. that way, if someone is driving inclined, they can win that one and mayble loose the FPS. I say No wheels or joysticks. Mice and keyboards only [trackballs included]. Im all up for it, you bet i am. there cant be games like CS, cos its two team based...it needs to be Deathmatch orientated [duh!]. be nice to see maybe starcraft or warcraft in the list.

yeah but with starcraft or any RTS, youd have 8 or so players, on a "last man standing" thing, so if you rush, then although you take someone out, your weakend for the early game. no teams remember?

An RTS would have to be done in a 1v1 ladder form.. if you did every man for himself, you get gang ups to take out the better players..

there wouldnt really. if you put 4 players units in close proximity it would turn into a blood bath, those who gang up wont win. its that simple. the only way to win is to play for your own self. the game would have disabled comunitactions etc, so no one would have any idea what the others are doing.

I did that at the Intencity dace partys on a 8 player Daytona...

We would screw up people so bad.

Then (no-offence to anyone who takes this racial) this big black homie guy comes up, punches the car i'm sitting in and goes:

A few answers to your questions / queries

One of the aims of the UGC is to allow players to shine and play older games they liked and got good at in a competative arena with rewards. Any new games will prolly be supported invividually in up and coming lans as they come out IN DEDICATED COMPETITIONS.

Also its a great way to cover all the old games and i think be a fairly open competition. We will have a few guys good at a few games but generally pretty open. as games will be announced 1 month prior to when they are held players will have a chance to practice or even learn how to play if they are not familiar with the game.
Remeber the top 10 finishers recieve points so every point will count.
it would be great if the top 3 placings at the end of the comp were within single digits of each other.

Yes raynar it was origionally 10 from 12 but it was decided 11 from 12
i prefer 10 as it will increase the uncertainty towards the end of the comp so we may put that one to debate as more people find out about it.

LOL MCud, the things that get in the way of a good idea.
Mainly the problem is ensuring that its well supported and organised with Admins and that the time frame doesnt discriminate against certain groups of people ie yr 12 students etc. So really the most fair period is january till june, no major exams and few major holidays.

There will be games from every genre.

No to wheels but there may be joysticks but they will be in later months and people will be given time to purchase borrow. We will let people know for sure before the whole comp starts.


Ultimate Gamers Comp will actually run on the main page of the website and have the comp ladder with points showing , the games that are to played at the next lan and photos of winners etc

Yes the data base, unfortunately its linked to lots of things we are working on for ccgl so its quite important. Yes its been going on for 5 months but as all people at CCGL are volunteers we have to be patient, just not too much more patient (TuRRi glares in a certain someones general direction )

No team all individual, but plans are afoot re a team based Ultimate Gamers playing, yep you guessed it ... Team games ..LOL and it will be called ... yep you guessed it.... Ultimate Clan Competition ..LOL

the games will be split into 4 genres and 3 games per gen or 6 genres and 2 games per gen or as close to that as we can get it. They will all be old favs tho.

Well you could kinda... the comp could run like this

You could run the server all day from say 9am. Once a players character reaches the set level they must stop. Once all players are at the agreed level or it reaches 12pm, the comp starts... Thats the only way i can see working, and its a bit excessive when all the other games (i assume) wont take anywhere near that long to run...

Ok what you do is you say u have 3 hrs to build your (hardcore) character up . . . . You use b.net emulation software and then after then 3 hrs you then have 1v1 faceoff's with the winner going through to the next round and the losre obvisously dying
