Australia is SO SO SO far behind the rest of the world when it comes to advancements in ADSL/Cable/Fiber Etc. We have 1.5mb max here, over in Hong Kong it's 6MB standard. Like wtf.

Which politician gives a rat's about this sort of thing? Do any?

Discuss!

Like f.uck Australia are one of the world's leading technological countries. Someone has to realise there's large demand for this, yet Telstra's busy being sold rather than giving us fast internet. I'd vote a local member into parliament if they promised to raise the issue of fast internet.

One reason why we dont get uber leet connections in australia. Economies of scale. We simply dont have the demand for such connections at the home internet level atm. Doesn't mean I like it, cuz I'd love to have a 30M bit fibre connection running into my router, it's just not gonna happen until there is a much larger demand for it. :-( At least adsl2 is just around the corner, tho I won't be getting it till I move off the coast.

Yeah the sheer cost of cable to distance is horrible over here. Whereas in hongkong you just run a backbone down the street and you connect 10000 people as apposed to 2 dozen families down a suburban street in Ausland.

Ah well, slow internet is still better than no -internet.

i think they need to put some more RnD in to tech's that will allow faster net over existing inferstrcuture(sp?) such as Voice/IP over Power.

this is a marveious tech.. that could give everyone in australia access to a 10mbit line or so.. right now..thru the existing power cabled.. connected to every home in australia..

last i herd its being tested in SA.. but that was awhile ago.. nfi how its going now.

but i think.. if jonny actually gave a - @ our place in the world and less about old pople and how far he can stick his head up G w's butt and killing skinnies.. we might get somewhere one day

they are (successfully) trialling it in germany too. apparently a lot of european countries think this is going to take off and are getting on board.

Why aren't we, I wonder?

*sigh*

and dont forget the internet on the same wavelength as digital TV... seen that talked about too, that was being tested in sydney i think?

God damn the new board. It deleted my post.

To rehash:

You are all wrong, WRONG! Telstra is trialling fttp. Do a google search you lazy so and so's. It's even on whirlpool. Holy -, they announced it last year, they might be even be ahead of some of the countries you think are better than old .au. Hey if the germans are so advanced, WHY DON"T U ALL GO AND JOIN THEM NAZI's(looks in fucts and james direction).

Second, internet is provided to kariong via cable. The cable is pfuit, just because you don't/can't differentiate between that and hybrid fibre/coaxial doesn't mean rolphy is wrong. It means you are wrong, and you are being elitist about something which you clearly don't understand. You r Llama!

GOD DAMN!
