Story Here (http://news.com.com/2102-1032_3-5443931.html?tag=st.util.printl)

After 19 months of development, two name changes and more than 8 million downloads of its preview release, the Firefox browser is finally turning 1.0.

Firefox, a browser based on the Mozilla Foundation's open-source development work, is scheduled to be available for free download at 1 a.m. PDT (7pm EAST) Tuesday.

Good times ahead, for those of you who haven't yet tried Firefox, I suggest you do when it's released later on tonight.

firefox is very very good... it makes browsing so much easier, and even on my work machine (P3 933, 128MB RAM) it can easily handle multiple windows with multiple tabs...

whats its support for java like ?

can it stop pop-ups like IE with SP2 ?

can in process all pages fine (eg, issues with sites displayed in netscape and IE appearing differently) ?

Plus the added benefits that you can customize it to the shit, not worry about adware or exploits and load up pages properly and faster.

I've been using it for a bit. The new start page (http://www.google.com.au/firefox) is linked with Google, which provides even more evidence that the two companies are linked and may be helping each other take over the usefulness of MS products:
[list]Internet Explorer - Firefox
Windows Search Function - Google Desktop Search
MSN Groups - Google Groups
MSN Search (ha!) - Google[list]
We could be on for an interesting battle ahead.

Back to the point though, this release of Firefox is even faster than previous vesions which is amazing. I won't go as far as to say it's as fast as broadband, but it's significantly faster than before.

Direct linky if you like (http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%201.0.exe)
See my sig for further info on this lovely product.
