Maybe it's more fun with other people.
I didn't like the no-car damage though. It's so pretty in every other respect, and the cut-away scenes where you roll someone's truck are cute.
I've been playing it since last night and I love it so pretty and it works good with the MOMO wheel :-)

Im STILL using my HR Corolla, and kicking Skylines with it ;P hah
what would be sweet is if you could have patches with extra cars :)

Maaaaaaad...... I just would like to see everyday cars done up and put in there... i mean i know you might think its kinda gay but that would just make it so much more interesting i reckon... I mean imagine having a race where you've got one person in their Corolla, someone else racing in a hyundai S-Coupe, another person in an old silvia and some guy in a Datsun 180B, while theres another person in an EA falcon and the last person on the grid is racing in a Holden astra! that would be heaps funny!!

I like the idea of taking on a GTR with a Dato..
Yeah.. You want some bitch :P heh

it would be just like the actual game is now, i'm thinking... basically there is loose guidelines on "classes".
you do a quick race in the cadillac 4WD, then you're only racing against other FWD's and hummers and stuff.
Race a corolla, you're only racing against other small four-bangers.
Race in a GTO, you're racing against turbocharged eclipses and WRX's.
Race in an ASTRA, you're racing against mazda 3's and stuff.
least that's how i think it would probably work.
i havent mentioned it yet, but some cressida action in nfsu would be pretty good

i'd still rather see a volvo doing 300kph and wasting a Skyline or GTR or STi even

I like the idea of the custom content... HOWEVER there is always the bad side.... Like people taking the reality of cars it makes buy not putting in these unicorns for middle class people such as the Ferrari F50 or the lambo diablo/countash or even the Meclarin F1 as seen in previous NFS's.... Personally i think cars like that suck because they are so unrealistic to own for middle class people.....

Yep happens on my Radeon 9700 as well. Brainless had the problem last night but dunno what he is running and i think Villan said the same problem existed for him too.

Does anyone know how to fix it or do we have to wait for a patch from EA
James
17-11-2004, 08:38 AM
there currently is no fix. it's a problem with ATI 9xxx cars, AFAIK. It says in the readme there is no current fix. The same thing happens in joint operations when you enable a certain setting. It's an ATi thing, unfortunately.
To combat those aliased edge woes, just up the resolution.
But if the ground resolution starts to look like a playstation 1 game , thats a bug with the game too, just lower your resolution one back and it should go back to normal :)

New cars will more than likely not be added to this for the fact of body kits and other parts, people managed to access the meshes and whatnot after underground 1 was out for about 2 weeks yet it's not as easy to make cars for this as it was for the other NFS series (except PU). If you wanted to add another car it would be an extremely difficult job to do as all the bodykits meshes are part of that cars individual data file or *.viv file in the earlier series, therefor to make a new car you have to then redesign every aftermaket part in the game to become compatible with that car.
I also believe there was a problem with the way the game contains the cars, in NFS 3 and 4 it was simple, you added the new car data into a folder named accordingly and put it into the /gamedata/cars directory, but afaik underground works like NFS 2 where you cant add new cars, you have to overwrite old cars. So I doubt we will be seeing new cars anytime soon unless they have a new system which knowing EA games I seriously doubt.

That didn't work with myself or Scythe, just download the 1.1 patch and problem solved :)

I've been using the 1.1 patch since i got the game, and NO, it does not fix the ATI problem that plagues the game. Wait for the next version of cats to come out, I'm using the latest non-beta ones, and i have the issue. This issue is completely identical to the issue that plagues Joint operations: Typhoon Rising... It's an ATi issue.
Not one that matters though... since when do you NEED aa anyway? :)

I believe the problem was introduced into catalyst 4.4's... don't quote me on that version number, because I'm not sure. Basically, they revamped a whole lot of stuff including optimised shader code and antialiasing routines, and I guess that's why the problem still exists, they haven't found a way to rectify it short of going back to the inferior routines they were using beforehand. Which you're using.
Right now.
On your old driver version.
So basically you can run AA, but ours will look better and run faster when we can too.
