Halflife1:Source appears to be available (once I get it fully downloaded.)

Anyone played it yet?
And when did it become available, I hadn't noticed before.

Yeah it's been available for a while I think. I only realised because I was warring in CS and my ping was horrible. Checked Steam Monitor and saw I was downloading HL Source at 150kb/s. That was about 2 weeks ago and I still haven't had a chance to play it :(

well what do you expect? it's the old 5 year old half-life, just ported to the new engine.

I think its remarkable how much the engine change can make such a difference in how SMOOTH the game feels... and the recoil for some of the weapons has been tweaked a bit, the physics are included... it really comes alive now.

I enjoyed it again the second time through (but i immensely enjoyed half-life when it first came out anyway), it came out right when HL2 did, wasnt only just released :D

Guess I just handn't noticed it.

I really like Half-life, so prettier graphics will just make it that much better.
Can't wait for Sven to port to new engine. Then can coop through the whole
single player Half-life:Source. Woot.

James

not to mention co-op through all the singleplayer of half life 2.

:P

True, but I think they'd have to modify the vehicles to have multiple.. or better yet 4 seats on the existing ones. like the choppers in DC ;)

James

or just have more vehicles.

say, two buggies...

ahh but the most fun in sven-coop was the user made maps where you go against apaches and stuff.. and one where you just held a trench against waves of grunts... soo much fun :D

Half- Life: Source was released the same day as HL2.. (DW bout that just read James's post then).

Steam has capped the download speed of HL: Source to 150KB/s no matter wat the connection.

It is the same game improved graphics, no multiplayer which is what f**ks it up, the weapons are no major improvement, only the background areas. No change to the traditional HL1 story of Black Mesa. (which is good)

I think alot of people will be dissapointed by HL source.
I hope CoD : Source will be better.

myself personally i am looking forward to Condition Zero: Source... It will be way better compared to CS: Source.

Meh, I don't think people would be looking for something new in HL Source, merely one of their fav games made prettier.

And the multiplayer will be out soon, I think Sven managed to get the Official nod to be the coop mod for HL2 etc. They already had the ability to play the single player campaign cooped, so I doubt it will take much porting. ;)

I WANT CZ: SOURCE!!!!!!!

btw do they play cz at ccgl??

coogle

CZ, not really as I've noticed.

1.6 CS was the standard, and now CS Source. I think CZ will be bypassed cause most people didn't want to get a new key for it.

But I could be wrong.. I've only been to about 3 of them.

source will neva take over cs 1.6...
theres like 30-60 aussie CS:S Servers theres over 300 cs 1.6 servers

CS:S is still buggy

Edit: Language, please watch it. -Kaygo

oh yeah?

What are the bugs?

which bugs would you be referring to?

Oh and I think CS just isnt popular yet because teenagers who skip school and dont sleep because theyre playing CS have

1) bad computers

and

2) are tight wallet kents, and dont wanna buy the game

combination of the two equals less CS:S players.

and there's hundreds of CS:S servers. :)

I can contribute a bug I filled in..

When there is text on the screen (people typing) if you hold TAB to view scores, you see the start of the text, but the transparency is wrong and u can't view it, you have to UNTAB.. where in 1.6 and versions blow u can keep reading thru the box.

I submitted that twice..

And this one isn't a bug, but the Scout does alot more damage..

I'd give CS:Source another 3-6 months before it totally removes 1.6.

-Basically that's people buying it.
-A few of the more persistant bugs getting worked out.
-Computers getting upgraded.

I'd say the only ones after that are the people with the reverse of what I've just said, and those 'leet' people who don't want to lose their 'leet' edge by transfering to a better system, where they don't know the maps to the Nth pixel, and game 'bugs' to be abused.

i remember the exact same conversation when 1.6 came out... little cs fags didn't wanna have to get new hax so they didn't want it to change...

a few months later, every major comp was running 1.6... it's going to happen ppl, just accept it or get the f%ck out

its true.. there will be hacks out for source very soon, my bet in about month or less.

shouldnt take the coders to long :(

already are out

Hmm. I was a little disapointed in HL Source. I was hoping for a complete re-skin like CS to CS Source, but it appears they merely loaded the old textures and stuff onto the new engine. MMM.. will have to play more to see if it changes things.

So...

You wanted them to entirely re-make HL1, in the Source Engine.

and you're comparing that kind of project, to PORTING OVER maps for CS:Source, and merely replacing the textures, and doing TWO new player models, and some simplistic weapon models -

it's kind of a juggernaut project to re-do everything... half life 1 has a .eload of scripting in it - it never intended to look as good as HL2, merely let you play HL1 on the source engine.

Hehe, true. But It would have been nice for some new textures.

Ah well can't have everything. :P

That would have involved re-compiling the maps. again. inserting the new textures.

By doing it the way they did, it ensured no bugs, no fuss - just porting it over.

I see what you mean though, i kind of hoped they replaced the grunt soldiers with the combine soldiers or something - and the scientists with the scientist in HL2.

but oh well

seems like the game was a let down for others and a praise for others
