For service & excellent speeds go Westnet (http://www.westnet.com.au)!

Haha

I'm on Westnet and they definetly aren't -.

Would someone with an 80GB Cap put up with ADSL if it was -?

No!

It's great, Westnet are great, and I'll stay with them till they get bought :) (Whenever that may be. Like what happened with Hotkey buying Dart)

Supposeably Exetel are suppose to be good but also they are changing their plans
startin january i think there introducing their unlimited connections again. and if ur a leech mofo like i am and want the faster 1500 then Exetel would be a good change for the new year.

Set it as a new years resolution or some shiz

Internode is the shizzles..... esp with the .eload of gameservers, PIPE downloads and free mirrors....

IInet gaming servers are sort of high ping, i doubt that reflects their net service though, but my mates have iinet and they seem to have good plans, and good pings.

Unlimited Dial Up No D/C 24GB a month

Pretty much the same for all there prices, cheapest 1.5MB i have seen is $90 with some unknown company... Curl Internet.

btw.. can someone tell me if 55.6KB is a normal DL speed for 512k? because ive had higher.

coughs* just found this ! iPrimus stepped up their speeds?

RavenKittie

Yes iPrimus stepped up there speeds however it all still depends on how close you live to an exchange :(

Correct. iinet servers are in perth, hence the high speeds to their servers. theyre rolling out some on the east coast and you can use many other servers for quota-free gaming... through PIPE.

also, yes iprimus are stepping up their speeds, but thats because theyre rolling out their own DSLAMs so you need to live within range not of any, but their exchanges.

Do yourself a favour & check out www.westnet.com.au before you choose your ISP.

I like them.

westnet, exetel, iinet are all very good choices...

exetel has a 1.5mbps unlimited plan for $95 a month atm... w000t!

I love Westnet.

One of my favourite parts, is they email me when they are doing work in ANY exchange in Australia, and that way if theres gonna be a problem I will know in advance.

Despite them working on my exchange I was still connected for days :D

hmmm... but when u can get all that for $95 a month... what does westnet charge for unlimited 1.5?

RavenKittie
14-12-2004, 11:47 AM
They don't charge unless you want to be.

You get to chose, either pay $X per X downloaded, or you get to be shaped.

I chose the shaping option :)

Besides , I have 80GB Cap, like I need to worry hehehe

Well good comparison James.

Westnet is just as good as iiNet, without all the dropouts & routing problems :)

i've only experienced bigpond adsl and iinet adsl... and bigpond was alot more reliable...

but u sure as hell pay for the priviledge!

vessian

telstra is better then everyone thinks... i use to have telstra bigpond dial up and i had a ping of 171 with no tweaks or nothing....so i dunno, im with OzeMail, there alright, my current plan is:

512K DSL ( D-Link 30-2G ) Unlimited hours, unlimited downloads ( after 12GB slows down to 128K ) $65 a month!

im also looking to go into 1.5mg dsl... programs such as limewire i only get a transfer rate of 2KB with my 512k i dunno why, its so annoying.. + i can get a ping of 20 with 512k adsl, so i wonder wat i can get with 1.5MG :P

Looking forward to LanPings 9's and 8's

Dropouts and routing problems? Please explain such phantom problems that I've not experienced yet. Because I've never seen these problems, I'd be interested in where you're getting this information.
