Have you thought about a s754 sempron 3100, in atomic it scored verrrry close to the s939 athlon 64 3200+?
Although if you are looking for a 939, you might want to look at the lanparty sli board, although it requires a pci-e card. There is some pretty good boards in the atomic mag with the quantum computing thing on the front.
i am thinking of a sli kind of setup at the end of next year, i recently got a job at kmart, sw1337

Also, how much cash are you thinking of saving?

I've got that... and its an AWESOME combination, let me tell you.

also, its about $300 or more cheaper than the 3200+ on 939.

so its a bargain too.

I even bought the motherboard atomic rated as "best motherboard in australia"

and it was only $160.

if your looking long term tho... your best bet would be the 939 with a 3000+ plus to get you started...

the cheaper option would be a 754 semperon... but ur upgradability will be limited... not to mention u wont be able to take advantage of dual channel ram...

msn me for info

There is also the propability of dual core AMD's coming out on the 939 platform, 939 has got a longer upgrade path but its more expensive than 754

yeah, MUCH cheaper - and the 754 line still has the on-chip 400mhz ddr memory controller...

and you can go up to an AMD64 3800+ on the 754 platform, thats SO FAR...

I wouldn't really call that [i]too[quote] limited...
754 is great entry level stuff, thats for sure.

But if you do have much more money and want a larger upgrade path, 939 is your friend.
