Im on that plan and its great, I ping <30 in BF and <40 in cs:s. I download at ~155kb/s and have only used ~7GB in 20 days. Its a great deal, great price, never drops out, pings good, BF has NEVER lagged, cs:s lagged once, on a dodgy server. Anyway sorry to be posting this in a sponsers thread but TPGs deal is good. Just hope it lasts longer then then the 6 month contract they give everyone

10 bucks says you have never used TPG, or at least recently. I have not had 1 problem with them. BF1942 has NEVER laged with them, even thogh I ran it @ LAN speed. CS:S is playable @LAN speed while dl at 157kb/s. I can run BF1942, dl and have my brother playing his PS2 online all at the same time as well as the useual MSN messenger, TS etc without lag or drop in speed. I havent had 1 drop out. I have rang them 3 times, they took 5mins, 10 mins and 8mins to answer, which is about 100 times better then the 45 minute wait to have someone answer from Optus to disconnect the dialup.

So whats so bad about TPG
-great speed,
-great relability
-great phone support.

I can only talk about my first hand experence with them but unlike all those people who are so quick to hate TPG because they give out cheap deals therefore they are - should realy do a little research first. And by research I dont meen going to whirlpool forums and reading that biast garbage, they almost made me not get it.

well it looks like ur better off than i am Osic i have drop outs when Lightning hits, ive had 3 connection problem sinse i got it. I use to have drop outs but not all were my fault. Ring them and theres no one available bcos everyones gone home. Dont get me started. and 512 here sharing with my bro bcomes a prob when Playing CS:S he accesses a site LAG spike bang.

Mixed feelings on TPG.

Drop outs from electical storms, your kidding right? You dont have your computer on in an electrical storm. The only problem I have with TPG is it runs on the Telstra Exchanges. I had my broadband knocked out for 4 seconds during an elcetical storm but it was the fact that my Termalfake PSU got blowen that I was annoyed about.

Ring up and no one home? The idea is to call in buissness hours. I would prefere this to other companys 3rd world country help desks.

512k would do that on any service. Its a 512k problem not a TPG problem.

The fact that your on a 512k plan shows that you have been using it for a while because they stoped 512k plans about 3 months ago. 1 dropout a month? Not too bad. Better then my dialup, cant belive I spent 6 months playing BF with connection problems every 20 seconds, and could actualy snipe

I have asked the experts and they said that nothing will save you except physical disconnecton from the power point with a big surge.

Quoted for accuracy, actually even having everything unplugged and turned off wont save it if it hits really close

that's why i unplug the powerboard and move it at least 1m away from the power point, i've heard of it arcing across to the extension cord / powerboard and still frying components...

another trick is to tie knots into your extension cords. it increases electrical impedance and the knots will melt before your computer does

I think I got hit in my car the other day, either that or everything just went white for no reason for about 2 seconds. Im going into my underground bunker 20m underground so I will be protected from this electrical hazard.

Back on Topic, whats the difference between a hard and soft session for your dialup plans. They look quite good, especily the $20 with 6 hours, normaly you can only get 4.

TPG have an unlimited dial up for like $16 a month... alot of places do plans similar to this...

The way our soft session limit works is, you are connected for at least 6 hours.
After this 6 hours depending on network usage you may get disconnected, however if the network is below 80% utilization you will stay connected until such time as someone dials up when network utilization is 80% utilized.

in effect if the network has low usage you can stay connected for as long as you feel the need to, these plans also only have a 10 minute enforced break (Most other companys offer 15minute enforced breaks)

Hope that answers your question,
