Diagnostics Software

I have a dodgy compaq here and i want to test the hardware for faults

can anyone reccomend som diagnostic software ?
Can anyone give me a link to the HP/Compaq diagnostic software ?

I have tried looking on the HP/Compaq website for thir software and i couldn't find it. I'm assuming they have some.

I have also tested the HDD with the Manufacturers software and it passed.
