Signups are now open for our first event of 2005. Happy new year and all that if you subscribe to the Gregorian calender. It will take place on the 5th of February at the North Sydney ANZAC memorial club. Here's what's planned:

The final bracket of the inaugral Ultimate Gamers League. We have over $1000 in prizes to give away for this one, with 4 games left to be played. Jed is currently in the lead, but with double points in the final round it's anyone's game. As previously, games will be announced 7 days out from the event so as to prevent anyone from gaining an advantage.

Call of Duty - Now that it has had a chance to establish itself, this comp will now be a Search and Destroy competition. Orphic will put up the rules for this one in a bit and as usual there will be some nice prizes on offer. Last time we had teams travelling in from other cities to participate so this should be another cracker of a comp.

Dawn of War - One of the most fun RTS games to have been released in the last year has really taken a firm foothold among CLGA goers and we'll be continuing to satiate this demand with another Dawn of War comp. Though I loathe Warhammer, I absolutely love this game and if you are looking for a good fast paced RTS that isn't Warcraft 3, I'd strongly suggest you give this a look between now and the next LAN. Big thanks to LJ for taking care of this one.

The physical challenges! LJ and CHimpy have volunteered to run some comps that don't involve sitting in a chair and waving a mouse around. We've brought in an air hockey and a foozball table and will be running minicomps for this throughout the day. Though we probably won't really put up anything in the way of prizes for it, you still get the kudos for winning a game that will make you man among men and it will also contribute points towards the Ultimate Gamers comp. That assumes of course that you can beat me or Chimpy (fat chance of that).

Rocket Arena 3 - Things just wouldn't be the same without RA3 and so it shall be that we continue to run the single longest running comp at CLGA. Usual rules apply here and if you are looking for a fast and frenetic comp, this is your bag. No Progamers, no unbalanced weapons, just good, high speed fun. If you don't have Quake 3, WHY NOT? It's only $20 or so nowadays! As always, this one is in Overkill's very capable hands.

As for UT2k4, we haven't really done much of it of late but I suppose if there's a LOT of interest in it, we can do one more, some sort of simple format based one. Can't be too elaborate though as we are already cramming a heck of a lot into precious little time and don't have a whole lot left in the prize budget either. Hit me with some suggestions though and I'll see what I can do.

Oh and thank you for taking an interest in our happy little group. I'll do my best to answer any questions.

we had to go into a poorly lit room and get our own table. Was a bit scary coz the admin guy came in with us......... and it was a poorly lit room. And i couldnt see anybodys hands. And he led us in there.
