Half Life 2 : Silver Edition

Hey just wondering where i can get the HL2 Silver Edition (all games, but no shirts and .e) Online, for a reasonable price. Also, do EB and other game shops sell the silver edition or just HL2?

Get Steam and then buy it with a credit card online.
To my knowledge you can't get it retail at all.

EB and game sort of shops have Collectors pack.

It has everything im pretty sure.

no DOD: Source, since dod distribution rights are owned by activision, therefore couldn't be released with the Sierra / Vivendi HL2 collectors pack. But you get everything but DOD:Source.

just get a friend to backup their ones and either put it on some disks or copy it 2 ur HDD and u wont have to download it... thats wat i did

If your mum doesn't want to buy it with her credit card, get yourself a debit card (key card + a credit card number that lets you access _your money_, rather than credit). That way there's only the _assumed_ risk to your card, not your mum's.

While you're waiting for your debit card to come in from the bank (1 week I was told it takes) you go over to a mate's place who has the silver pack, grab all his .gcf files then place them in C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\ and once you've bought the game, you'll be there for <30 mins while it activates and voila - HL2 Silver Pack ready to play.

P.S. No credit card scams/problems have ever been found in the Steam system to my knowledge.

there was a collectors edition ISO or two being put around at phat lan. Might see if any of my mates have that. It installs everything. too bad i deleted it :angry:

A normal bank debit card wont let you do online shopping with a credit card system. But somthing like a Visa debit acts like a credit card and alows you to do this.

yeah and besides i hate banks and .. im closing my accnt cuz i have 10 cents in it, and they are charging me fee's even though i neve use it. Sucks. they sent me a snail mail letter saying (basically) "Congrats on your upcoming birthday. we will rape your account of $5 a month, regardless of wether or not you have anything in it. Have a GEAT day ^_^" so meh. Gunna get paid cash in hand, and it will go into an old sock. :lol: B)

do what i had to go to get HL2... bite the bullet and buy the collectors edition (although, in hindsight, i'd recomend the standard edition as the T shirt is a POS)

I have a credit card, but dont really wanna give them money and then rely on downloading it if that makes sense.. would prefer to have an offical hard copy or something.. *shrugs*

Is collector's edition the only way to get it apart from steam? or is there some other way?

here's the best and cheapest way to do it


get silver through steam
wait until everything is 100 downloaded
backup all your games in steam and burn to a CD or DVD (or store on server)

that way u got every game there is... as well as a hard copy

i got hl1 and play it all the time so that means i should get colectors ed or not?

meh im just gunna hopefully buy from steam, get the keys and what not, then get that Collectors edition ISO off one of my mates and use that instead. fark downloading it. it says its like 9 gig of data in total :blink: so meh.
