I decided to do this poll again because the results i got beforehand were way too close.
I added two more brands (Matrox and Intel) to see if there is any major difference.

Thanks for any input you guys have!

Personally.. My preference is for Vidia due to better linux driver support. Other than that, there isnt much between them, been happy with every ati and nvidia Ive ever owned..

i have to admit i'm a nvidia fainboy... i've never used anything else, and although the hair dryer incident did turn me for a bit, with the incredible 6600 and 6800 range atm, and not to mention SLI and the nforce range, i'm firmly in the nvidia camp

Can't say sli is doing a lot for me atm.. (even running in tandem with a frozen 3ghz+ athlon64 its still cpu limited) It's making me wish that ati will implement a better solution (that actually works natively instead of at a driver level)

ATI x800xtpe in my gmaing rig
Nvidia 6600gt in my silent pc
Onboard Intel in my server

My vote still stands however on nvidia. Performance of a flagship card/gpu does not tell you which brand is better.

eg.
x850xtpe or 2x6800ultras? I'd say x850xtpe
Nvidia or ATI? Nvidia

Once again ATi, always liked them for no reason other then I do, and there numbers are easyer to understand. Gforce-who? GT? isnt that a game? or a car? 9600 PRO, now thats easy, its for pros.

EDIT: very close still, mabie make a thread/look for a thread in the OCAU forums. Should get a couplemore results there.
