May we all have a minuites silence to remember the leet box.
At 6:15pm this evening the leet box passed away, its traces had been damaged in his 4th water cooling installation.
Icefires-b0x3n or known as Fluffy to close ones lived a fruitful life of overclocking, cooling, overclocking, DC pwnage and more overclocking. Fluffy was a kind computer, always friendly and gentle to others, always giving yet never taking, he had experienced many things in his life and could not have lived it better.
Please people, remember the good times with Fluffy and dont cry, he is watching us from above and would hate to see us that way.....
Ok I killed my computer and I'm angry... meh

Thats why I don't do water-cooling.. ^_^
Icefire
17-02-2005, 06:02 PM
It was not caused by the watercooling directly, it was me using unsuitable tools for a job in which I slipped and clipped some motherboard tracings.
Yer Assclown it is just the mobo thats dead AFAIK there should be no damage to any other parts.
Linux, dont worry while your playing games on your 6600gt in 2 weeks I'll be benchmarking on FluffyV2, the A64 939 system which will obviously be running an additional 2x 200gig Sata drives, with a Leadtek 6600gt which will all be watercooled ofcourse.
I'll get some pics when I move this rig (HTPC) into a desktop case and put it where fluffy belongs.

if your running your computer at any temp that means you need watercooling, your doing something very very wrong

Or overclocking?

Agreed.. You guys have issues.
1. He has stated that his issues had NOTHING to do with watercooling (he slipped with pliers and damaged the MB).
2. Watercooling if done properly will never be an issue.
3. You do realise that there are systems out there that come watercooled stock, in fact, I predict the way processor temperatures are going, at some point they will have to start looking at watercooling stock name brand computers.
Domo-Kun, I think you may be suffering from slight retardation, you should see someone about that.

I agree with Vi||an here, alot of people believe this is a very practical option.
And considering I had my AMD Barton 2500xp from 1833mhz stock to 2400mhz and Idleing at about 33-35 degrees I dont think I was doing anything too wrong Domu-kun

Ice, i was thinking of the people who seem to be able to get their computers up to 55-65 C and then go out and get watercooling
why the hell do you people have computers going that hot
my A64 3200+ is running at 2200mhz, and it doesnt ever go to 50C and its got the stock amd fan and heatsink

18-02-2005, 10:39 AM
My dual 2400mp's idled at 55degrees.. That was just the temperature they ran at, nothing unusual done to them.. I watercooled them, and now they idle at 30, and under full load hit 33.
Congrats that you have a chip that runs cool, but just because yours does, doesnt mean everyone is in the same boat.

only thing i got against watter cooling is that small chance it could destroy my machine, and i don't want all that money going down the drain.

Seen what happens when a fan dies on a HSF? :)

Dont most of the newer bios's have the ability to turn the computer off when the cpu hits a certain temp? I thought someone on here mentioned that before, i dont have it set up, nor have i actually looked for it though ;)

Answered the question in the same post :P hehe.. Some do, some dont.. My watercooled PC doesnt have the option.. My gaming PC does. But the feature isnt much good if it isnt turned on :P heh

It also doesn't work when you have innacurate thermal diodes, or mobo problems like my old rig, fan stopped got upto 90 odd degrees but didn't turn off

Should have been using water cooling then!
(Yes, i'm deliberately being difficult for amusement purposes hehe)

i'd be using watercooling, if i could afford it...
my A64 system will be watercooled

Damn all you water coolers! You're the reason we have these water restrictions! It's your fault we had a drought in winter! *mumbles* good for nothing, dirty.... */mumbles*

I can see the add now
"Level 4 water restrictions, No sprinklers, no hosing gardens, no washing cars, no refilling of water cooling systems"

Seems pointless as I get my new rig on saturday :\
