If we bought two CB's... one for the top of the hill, one for the bottom of the hill, would they be able to contact each other? or is the hill too big or is it too far away??
I was thinking if that would work it might be a worthwhile investment.
Also, if not, we should go on cruises other than the midnight run too!
in which case, some cheap $50 5km range multichannel uniden walkie talkies might be a cool idea.
Just some thoughts.
Cheers

The idea is, we are not racing and cops look for racer evidence... such as 2-way radios etc...
Failing to prove ppl are racing, they go ape over the legalities of ppls cars, like CB radios without licenses etc...
It is not uncommon for guys/gals to cruise and if we keep all our affairs on that line, then any police intervention will be minimal and uneventful... If the road at each start/finish is clean from donuts and general rubber laying, then cops won't give us a second look.
Radios are neccessary for street racers as they have little leeway between police being spotted and the area racrers are racing... That's why guys/gals actually do get charged with racing, cause they actually get seen by police draggin off down the road.
MR focusses on having anyone doing a run to be very far away from any police or other traffic. Like a cheap racetrack. Even if 2 drivers did want to race the 8ks, they are still a long way away from being spotted.
What I laugh at, is guys saying "I can't come, I only have 1 point left on my license..." I think, ok, so you drive like a deekhead and get caught heaps of times, then when being offerred a safe place to drive your car the way you really want to, you don't...
The Central Coast is not gunna set any Hi-IQ records any time soon...
I am going to print some business cards up and it will read;
Midnight Run
Car & Bike Social Cruising Club
The actual Run will be just 1 of the social things we do...

I'm very pleased to hear midnight run has plans beyond this 8000m stretch of pacific highway!
We can get a decent base of members and then go for nice cruises, even whole weekend ones when we can organise it, a nice cruise to kiama or something, make it a whole weekend adventure, would be awesome. :D
My suggestion of two-way radios mainly pertains to the extra activities not relating to the pacific highway run itself.
If you're going on a cruise, and you're in a group of cars on a road, its imperative you have even some cheap 5 km range uniden two-ways.... it just makes it so easy and much better to communicate.
Some uber-cruises would be mad.
Or even if we cruise to sydney and meet up with another club.
There's plenty of toymods members who are always up for a cruise...
Not to mention the cressida guys that live around sydney and this area too - im sure some of them would be up for a bit of a cruise too.
Faux if you wanna brainstorm any ideas just send us a msg or if you want any suggestions later on when the time comes that you decide you wanna do something like this, I'm sure I could help you find destinations or some such :D
Cheers
