Hi all
i was thinking of getting an EPIA system and setting it up and putting it in my car.
just wondering if its possible at all how you would go about adapting an old laptop's LCD screen to work on a normal computer.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance

i wouldn''t think it would be truly viable. would be too easily breakable and hard to do, not sure bout new ones but i had an old lappy which had the hinges break everything else was fine but the damn screen fell apart u could try but i don't know how long u could get it to last gl to u tho.

I want to know if it's possible, not if the screen's going to fall apart. Just want to know if I can hook it up to output for a normal PC...
Thankyou for your interest

No, last time I looked into this.. It wasnt possible..
A better option is to look on ebay and actually get a screen from there.. Mine only cost around $500 from ebay and takes video inputs. There are others available on there that are touchscreen as well.
I repeat.. DO NOT USE LAPTOP LCD's.. Wont work, you will waste your time.

it was worth a shot.
I figured if I could save myself from spending $500 then it was definitely worth a shot.
I'll check out some of the stuff on www.mp3car.com
I think they had some VGA touchscreens that do sorta decent resolutions for an OK price.
Cheers guys

Yeah.. I think the brand is Lilliput or something like that.. Make alot of nice touch screens / fold out screens.. Very cheap compared to some others, and they do the job.
From memory (when I used to read mp3car all the time), the majority of the guys are using those.
