I just installed this game last night and it's quite fun for an rts it's realy realistic like instead of just building houses for the pop limit your workers actually go back to them to sleep. and they go into the farms for food.
and the ammount of different resources you need to get is unbelievable....
and instead of there being seperate maps like winter and summer maps, the seasons change in game, a season lasts for abou tlike 10-20 mins and the rain looks awesome

2 questions,
1. u say it has lots of resorces? as in unmanagible? or what?
and the all important one which matters over everything else . . .
2. dose it have a decent storyline, nothing matters if it dosen't have a good storyline.
EDIT: can u time shift the houses?

if its anything like the other settlers games then there is absolute -loads of resources, but its not unmanageable because the game handles it quite differently to your typical RTS.
say for example to make beer you need hops and stuff
or to make a an archer unit you need wood, a fletcher to make the bow out of the wood, pig skin, a tanner to turn the skin into leather, and a leatherworker to make the leather into leather armor
then once you have all those resources you can train one archer
It sounds daunting, but it's really cool.
Knights and merchants was the same... i think settlers was this in-depth?
I know stronghold is too...

no the reasources are manageable, ok here's how it works,
you have a hole in the ground with the reasourse, say a hole full of clay or a ston equarry, you get your little villiger guys to build a mine shaft and miner work at hen, but you dont have to pay for the miners, they come as they please but once they are there they dont leave, so if you build a mine, and it fills up with miners they wont stop mineing unless they are hungry tired or the mine is depleted.
on the other hand you can get villagers to work on the little above ground piles of the reasources, but it is much much slower. and the villagers can also collect wood and such
the money resource work much like stronghold where the villagers pay taxes to stay in your town and you can also trade resources.
it's not quite in that much detail to stronghold to build units griffin but the unit is created instantly and they then have to take a set ammount of time to be then turned into the soldier you ordered (they train up at their base). but i may be wrong i havn't gone into that much detail yet. i will have another look tonight and work on building an army and seeing how it goes... then update you here
For building stuff, no once the building is down it doesn't move, but you only start off with a cirtian ammount of buildings available, you then have to get a college and research cirtian things to get cirtain buildings and everything survives off one another, example; for a barraks you need, a smithy, for a smithy you need to research something in the college (i forget what it is)
But yeah, if your an RTS fan i suggest you get this game it's really impressive, id say it would go close if not beating stronghold
