I have been using Princo 4x -R for ages and instead of burning in 15min it now takes 30+min...
Nero still says "Burning at 4x" but the Buffer goes up and down like a b i t c h...
Also, DVD Shrink takes a lot longer, typically twice as long...
Because DVD Shrinking and burning both take longer, I am assuming it would not be a NERO problem or a Princo Media problem...
If I can't rectify this soon I'll reformat and re-install windows...
Help anyone?

This lower buffer level goes up to 90s and down to 20s in 1 second so goes up and down 50-60 times a minute

28min and it wasn't even a full disc

Try a scandisk and a defrag on the drive you copying from, may be full of junk and the access times slow down to it.
Also, any other programs running using cpu/memory, cause the buffer might be struggling for room.
Also, see how much room you have left on c:, if your swap files don't have enough room to play they get shirty.
my 2 cents, assuming nothing else has changed on your rig.

It's only a 3 month install of WinXP and has no junk apps...
It only leeches via DC++ and when capped doen't leech at all...
Only other apps are icq/msn
My system drive and downloads drive have heaps of spare space 10gig and 30gig respectively...
Faux I had a similar issue.
And as Ripleys would say, "Real? Believe it!"
I took it to work & i didnt believe it, but it was actually my PSU.
Mine burns like a champ again & has been for months now.

I'll unplug a drive and see if that works...
Yes I believe you as I have had recent problems with my old gamer that kept sucking too much juice...
Monumental system problems...

Strange thing is though, I am running an MX420 card now but was running an FX5200Ultra that needed extra molex before...
So in theory, my system components are sucking less than before...

With FX5200 ultra which needed extra molex power and 1x80gig + 1x160gig + CD-ROM + DVD R/W the shrinking/burning was great...
Then out of the blue all the DVD stuff slows as above...
Since the power may have been an issue, I am back to the original mx420 card, unplugged the 160gig and CD-ROM and it's exactly the same, slooooow
So I reinstalled WinXP and she's back to tip-top...
Don't know of any software I put on it around the time of it slowing up, other than all those windows updates...
