Battlefield 2 has officially gone GOLD! The game will begin shipping under the EA GAMES brand starting Tuesday, June 21, 2005.

In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 30+ vehicles. Players can also hone their skills against improved enemy intelligence in the new single-player campaign before competing online with up to 64 players in some of the most intense battles on the PC.

Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates. With the new online character ranking and persistence, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals, and more.

Any recommended specs list?

i'd say as far as recomended specs go, if you cant run Desert Combat 100% smooth you shouldn't be looking at this

What are you basing this on?

The engine is supposed to be much more optimised than the refractor engine used for battlefield 1942.

Plus, Desert Combat, even in its "final" (and i use the term loosely) is supposed to still be very unoptimised.

If you can run 1942 standard in a 64 player game smooth (and even my computer, sempron 3100+ on skt754 with my -py 100gig and 512mb of 266mhz ddr ram... yes i need better ram) you shouldn't have any worries in an average sized battlefield 2 game.

Theyve said in interviews the engine is very scalable.

I got the feeling my A64 at 4000+ gig of RAM and 6600GT extreme should handle it :D

I think people are underestimating their systems ability to play this game. It will hopefully run fine!

I was sheeting my pants re: HL2, but in the end when I ran it on my computer, I could play it on high detail and I would get only a little sound stutter... which was fixed by a patch soon after release anyway

These are approximations, but based on the various systems we've played it on:

1.8GHz, 64MB video RAM, 512k RAM - 1024x768, low details (still looks good, btw)

2GHz, 128MB video RAM, 1GB RAM - 1280 x 960, medium details

3GHz, 256MB video RAM, 1GB RAM - everything maxed (the videos you're seeing)

Taken from totalbf2 forums

i know i plan on playing this for game play and maybe competition. not flashy graphics and effects.
high rez, furthest view distance and lowest possible graphics is what i intend on playing on..
my sh!t pc shold be more then enuff for that.

i remeber trying to play quake 3 with blot0's config... was so weird, it didn't feel like the same game cos of all the gfx stuff u had done to it

i'm aiming for 1024x768 @ high quality, but only as long as the frames are smooth as... i'm also looking at playing this competitivly

blot0

hehe *hugs his pro Q3 comfig*

i play DC @ anywhere between 800x600 to 1280x1024 .. depends on the day
with custom graphics .. everything turned off or as low as it can be set.
