Faux,
True, but this one is real wood! I think it looks pretty cool. :) But each to their own.

Looks stupid + waste of time...
Especially if the touch wheel stops working and you can't change volume.

What makes you think the touch wheel will stop working?
I spose if maj posted this you'd be humping the idea of a wooden ipod, right brett?

It still is civil. Stop trying to incite an argument. :)
Whether you like it or not, you've got to admit it's quite an admirable effort to mod ones ipod... Certainly differs from most ipod mods you'd see, that's for sure.

No James.
3rd time I've seen it.
It's -. Obviously you don't have an ipod, or have used one.. So i'll put it in terms you can understand.
The ipod has a clickwheel, it is the main "circle" on the ipod.. http://photos2.flickr.com/3481457_5b92cd7a55.jpg
Ok, this wheel is configured to be pushed.. If you want to pause a song, you push in the pause/play button.. if you want to fast forward.. you push it.. if you wanna select a song, you push the middle button.. easy huh?
This clickwheel also can be used to do such things as control volume, scroll through songs faster, scroll through lists etc, this is done through just rubbing your finger around it.. So to answer your question, when you de-assemble the ipod, if you've seen the screenshots inside it, the clickwheel could be damaged quite easily if you haven't put thought into where your going to put electronic components whilst you de-assemble it.
Now, with the wooden ipod, zapwizard states that it still works.. but there isn't really good proof.. considering the screens he has are of the same thing.. same song highlighted, paused, etc..
There was another site with a guy who tried to do the wooden ipod, and he stuffed it up, and ruiened his 40gb photo.. i wish i could find the link.
But to back up my post.. it looks stupid in my opinion.. the wood look doesn't appeal to me. I prefer the white.
If you want to "skin" your ipod, you can, skins are available to purchase on the net and such.. i have seen a wooden one aswell.

actually the clickwheel would still work, its extremely sensitive. i have a silicone case on mine, and the clickwheel works right through it, i think apple designed the clickwheel so it could be covered. its not as sensitive as a computer trackpad because it needs to be way less accurate,
i wish i had the skill to do something like that, im just thinking about changing my ipod's bezel and clickwheel to that of a U2 edition 4th gen
btw i own a 30gb iPod photo.
