I am selling my copy of Battlefield 2 as it doesnt work in my System.

I got a new copy from EB and it still wont work.
I formatted reinstalled XP and installed the game and still wont work.

So I have given up and am going to sell now..

I will sell for $60

I will bring it to WPG and if I cant get it going there I will sell it....

whats wrong with it? what kind of video card are you running

It is nothing to do with GFX..

When I insert the DVD in my drive, it says "Please insert install disk to continue"

It does this over and over and wont accept my DVD. I have reinstalled 10 times and have formatted my system and the game was the first thing I installed and it still comes up with the error.

I have replaced the DVD with EB Games and that didnt help.

So I have no idea how to fix it.

PS: A no-cd crack is not an opion as Punkbuster can detect a modified bf2.exe and kicks you.

Did you try a different drive?

Did you try the CD version?

Did you test your copy on anyone else's computer???

also, are you running any DVD Drive emulation software? i know The Sims 2 had a thing where if it could detect certain drive emulation software it woudn't run properly... like a weird copy protection...

your other option would be to try ripping an iso of the DVD (note to mods - legal as he owns it) and trying it that way... or at WPG getting som1 there to rip you an iso of it...

ISO images of the game arent recognised as actual cd's ,therefore the problem of having to use a crack still exists. :(

iso's of DVD's work differently to iso's of CD's... and if done correctly are recognised...

case in point, i have Splinter Cell and Sims2 DVD images running fine without any cracks...

Case in point is completely and utterly irrelevant, different games use different copy protection algorithms.

an ISO image of battlefield 2 that is recognised as the original CD has not been released yet.

Waste your time in a futile attempt to make the perfect copy if you want, but i suggest you try other alternatives first.

I remember that Sims 2 thing..

It's just probably your DVD Rom drivers.. My brother's AMD had a problem with V8 Supercars. He only uses MSN/Word so I just formatted and it worked..

Not really telling you to format because if you do, and it still doesn't work, I'd be pretty annoyed.

Possibly try and update your DVD ROM drivers?

Google the error and see if anyone else has that problem and see if they have found a way around it?

Just obvious stuff like that.. Spewing when you PAY for a game and it doesn't work..

Best of luck with it Dmg.

I know, you have the DVD version. I'm sure they would exhchange the DVD for CD version, since it's the same game.

Might even get a discount, too.

That's why.

LOL

solution : use something less buggy :P

;)

Seriously though, the patch was recalled anyway, due to a big memory leak in it, and other associated compatability problems. They're realeasing a hotfix soon and then there will be no worries...

But the good thing about the patch is it fixes all the issues with the server browser! (thank god)

You can't join games yet through all seeing eye etc though. :' (

If I can get an image of it to install and run offline single player, I will, but this game would need to be hell cheap b4 I buy it in a shop...

For all you kiddies under the age of 18, - Smith actually means D I C K Smith. The word D I C K is a name, usually a shortenned version of the name Richard.

D I C K Smith is a legend Aussie who not only once owned the D I C K Smith electronics chain, but also solo cirumnavigated the globe in a helicopter. D I C K is also the president of the australian skeptics society...

Unfortunately, the word D I C K on dictionary.com also means;

Vulgar. A penis.
Vulgar. A person, especially a man, regarded as mean or contemptible.

Therefore, the forum moderators have deemed it necessary to exclude this name from the forums...

Here is a short list of famous D I C K s that will be excluded...

D I C K Smith
D I C K Johnson
D I C K Clarke
D I C K Van Dyke
Tricky D I C K I E Nixon

the safedisk protection has been known not to work on certain dvd drives, however it works on my Pioneer, can't say anything for the liteons though.

at megagames there is a mini-cd image that will allow you to start the game, i use it here

James

I have a liteon DVD drive and the game works fine for me.

So cross liteon off the "not sure" list.

EA's Advice is to Uninstall Battlefield 2

Posted by Zonk on Monday July 11, @01:17PM
from the best-launch-evar dept.
Grym writes "The recently released Battlefield 2 was met with various levels of acclaim by reviewers. Besides the insane hardware requirements, the chief complaint was the amount of bugs in the game. Hoping to address the situation quickly, EA hastily released a patch to address the concerns cited in reviews. Big mistake. The patch turned out to be littered with bugs. One of the biggest was a huge memory leak. Another actually turned teammates' names red--just like enemies. The game became unplayable because of the patch. Tycho at Penny-Arcade discussed the issue in his latest news update. EA has owned up to the buggy patch and has said that there will be a hotfix released soon. In the meantime, gamers have been offically told to uninstall Battlefield 2 and play without the patch; advice that many fans are not happy to hear. Meanwhile, some sites are still offering the 1.01 patch for download on their front pages, only adding to the confusion. When are game companies going to learn? Quality assurance and play-testing should not be an afterthought!"
