ok... I was playing world of warcraft, then all of a sudden my PC decides to freeze. so i let it sit for a bit b4 it decided to reset itself, after it did that i couldnt log into windows, some error that it couldnt activate windows. so i reset then then went into safe mode all booted up fine, went into msconfig and there was a program called refdump 0 -k so i unticked it rebooted, and all seemed to be fine, went back Into World of warcraft played for about 5 minutes and it happend again, rebooted... then windows wouldnt boot at all
so i decided to format all was going well until it got to about 12% of copying the windows files needed saying it couldnt copy dxdiag.dll correctly, so i tried again and it kept happening but it was a different file each time it stuffed up so i tried installing on different Harddrives using different CDs Even switched IDE cables for some new 1s i had lying around and still no go so i kept trying and every so often id get a blue screen of death saying PAGE_ERROR_NON_PAGED_AREA... i dont know what to do if anyone could help me out it would be a big help thnks

If the time between each failed install gets shorter and shorter, its a heat problem... Check all fans (CPU VGA Chipset)...

If all is working fine, see if anything on the mobo is popped like a diode or capacitor... Look hard as its not always obvious...

The best way to work it out though is to exchange components with ones without issues...

half the suggestions in this thread just look like you people have just read atomic and gone "errr, its this"

and thrown some buzz words and phrases you found out of there into the thread

Fauxpas has the right idea. Whether or not it will fix the problem is unknown, but it's the best way to narrow the problem down - The Process of elimination! :)

I'd say best of luck, but... yeah

um... get it working?

burn a cd with memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) and let it run for at least 1 pass (with no errors). That should rule out your ram. Put your hard disk in you 233 box and do a low level format and surface scan and make sure it not a failing hdd screwing you over.

Make sure you dont connect the box to the net until your sure its going okay... in case its some dodgey virus or something, but my bet would be the ram or hdd
