The layout of the primary keys are the same but the placements of the multimedia keys has been tweaked a bit for better ergonomics. The biggest changes to the MX line is the new laser mouse. This new mouse uses the same laser engine found in the MX 1000 laser mouse but it's housed in a much sleeker body. Gone is the docking station that is used to charge the mouse and receive wireless signals. In its place is the new SecureConnect receiver. (eds. It now uses 2 AA batteries instead of rechargeable ones - said to last up to six months, the keyboard up to 18 months. The light on the mouse lights up to indicate ~10 days left of charge remains. No three-step indication like its predecessor.)

Should debut at ~$150 in the near future.

The Good
* * * Long battery life
* * * Easy setup
* * * SecureConnect
* * * One of the best looking keyboard mouse combo we're ever seen
* * * Good software suite

The Bad
* * * Laser mouse for right handed users only

I like the old mouse personally... of course I havent actually laid hands on the new one... I'm undecided about the battery situation tho I prefer the simplicity of just putting the mouse on the charger when I'm not around...
"Gone is the docking station that is used to charge the mouse and receive wireless signals"
Where'd it go I wonder? Seriously... you need something to receive those signals

I think it means the charging *and* receiving is gone, the receiving is there alone now.
