Hey Peepz,
For the next CCGL Battlefield 2 Comp we will be limiting to a 4 Clan Competition, for this we have made up 4 possible draws on how the comp can be played out.
1. Single Elimination - Shot but sweet

2. Double Elimination - W00t for Second Chances
http://www.brainlessperformance.com/images/BF2/1.JPG
3. Round Robin With a Grand final - This means you will play each side once, then the 2 highest ranking sides will play in the Final
http://www.brainlessperformance.com/images/BF2/2.JPG
4. Round Robin with Semi and Grand Final - Same as above but you play 3 rounds to determine who is playing who in the Semi Finals and then the Winners from the Semi's go onto the Final

This is your chance to help us find out what players want so vote carefully as you have only yourself to blame if you vote something then decide you want to play a different style,
If you have any questions please feel free to PM or Email me - Brainless@CCGL.org
Or if you have any better ideas for comp layout post them up

Which comp system to use should be dictated by 2 things. Time and how many teams.
I suggest TuRRi and admins just make a decision as leaving it up to voting makes lanners who didn't get their way feel hard done by.

Double Elim for the win. Works for lots of other games why not BF2 :)

round robin is like a football season
you play 3 games to work out positions for the finals

i'd have to vote for round robin, cos of the difference in skill levels between different clans, at least that way the 2 clans to get to the final are the ones that deserve to be there...
that or double elim works too...

Im thinkin round robin with a final, preuly coz u have already played each other once so those who have the higher scores are obviously the better teams, hence why having just the GF instead of the semis seems the way to go...
If u have topped the round robin u deserve to go straight to the grandfinal

Nice layout Brainless.
Quick overview - we are trying to get a happy balance in this comp based on the needs of BF2 players needs.
Faux is correct in its really all about time, were more than happy to invest more time in BF2 to have a good comp where players feel the got the chance to perform and had the opputunity to compete. Certainly 1 war and its all over for a team isnt really a fair scenario.
We have also revamped the general rules and comp running proceedures which in theory create more time to extend this comp.
Single Elim = 2 hours comp time
Double elim = 4 hours
RR no semis = 4 hours
RR with semis = 5 hours

Round Robin mainly cause you get the most games as a team, hence the most fun.
If you have more than 4 teams, then single elimination seems the way to go for speed/time constraints.
I kinda dislike the double elimination, as the team that wins has to win 3 times, yet the other teams only have to win 2 times. And you are pitting the two first round winners against each other. So you are almost better off losing the first round then aiming to win the next two.

Either way, if you go all out with RR + Finals, that's OK. There just needs to be fewer comps run.
5+ comps @ 2 hours each
2 comps @ 5 hours each
or a combination of the above.
I think committing to 2 x big comps would be good. (CSS + BF2) Then allowing the CCGL servers to be used for impromtue comps for other games outside of the times the 2 big comps run.

at the moment we are trying to push BF2 and get alot of interest generated, 1 way of doing this is alowing some input on how the comp is run, because if players dont like it they wont play it.
I have now resigned from heading up a Clan in the comp so I can focus on running the comp on time and with minimal issues.
things to come in the BF2 comp are
If your not in the servers by the allocated time then you will forfiet the match or play with whats in the server if more than 6.
ONLY Team Captains will Talk to Comp Administrators to minimise confusion.
Also encourages Teams organising themselves
these may seem a little strict but the more organised the comp is the better it is to play,
Times will be setout for each match so it will be easy to know what time you have to be in the server
MAKE SURE YOUR CLAN INSTALLS AND PLAYS THE GAME BEFORE THE COMP SO YOU DONT HAVE TO FORFIET PLAY WITH LESS PLAYERS.
The comp servers will be up for PUB play before the lan and can be locked down for prac on request

I like the sound of all of them except the double elim.

Im not sure if anyone has said somethink yet about it but teh maps should be 16 player maps instead of conventional 32 or 64 ;
* To much ground to cover accross the map
* More intense gameplay
* Less points more action
Those are main reasons for playing only 16 player maps

Yup I agree, 20 players on a 16 player map is much more fun than 20 on a 32.
And it also tends to be quicker as point draining strats work very well.

you're definately right.... i mean they obviously designed 16-player maps for a player limit greater than 16.... </sarcasm>
