29 was good , although the turnout was only about 60 -70 people it was a good turn out.
Cod game was great .....
Hopefully more people will come next time.
still things take to long to sort out at lan , need to get more mic happenings and hustling. Hustling the games into action and sorting out teams etc.
on teh whole it was a great lan , good turnout and a bucket full of fun.

Yeah lol, I got 4 hours in the end of it all. I got none the first night. Like 3 before the CSS comp (lol) and 1 while watching Fat Pizza.
Everytime I turned around you were playing lol.

LANs are always good... need them more regular to get a good base, bread and butter patronage again...
Need;
Game servers ready to rock before the LAN
Net connection ready to rock (hack?) before the LAN
Different venue? Only in relation to summer heat... wasn't really a hot weekend but I still though it was hot inside... least it wasn't as hot as phat...
Good to see everyone again, seeyas next time...

Always enjoy CCGL, this one no different. Fun times ^^
The COD2 Comp was ffkn awesome. Cheers for a bloody balltearing game [4RAR], was such a tight match.
Only bitch would be the lag suffered mid-war on that shifty CSS server, but meh.
Thanks to the admins for their efforts + time put in..

There are always things we can improve ... just like Fauxpas has said ...
All in all it was a good event, good nice turn out, CS comp was great (my team won thats why)
BF2 comp was run well
Every lan has hiccups ... and all those will be ironed out over time.
Thank you all for coming ... i'm off to bed!

Congats Admins..
Quite a good CCGL.. Loved the CoD2 action (spewing I missed the comp).
CSS was extremely random, Dezza's strafe headshots and Endo's config contributing to the rage.
Good to see some of you again.. Bit of a sluggish turnout, but you get that.

yeh t'was alright, although i was only there for a night....umm CSS was a bit queer, only cause it took so long to fix it up (I was gone before it got up and running), *EDIT*
I didn't really play to many games ( and somehow managed to end up in a bf2 comp) because of that, and because i had no idea what anyone was playing, *EDIT*
but yeh, some things to iron out, but u guys know what they are so i'm not going to repeat them

I know the feeling about the css comp. I'd have stayed around longer, but I couldn't participate in any of the running pub games due to 'bad version'. Even though I was upto date with steam. Went home and yes I was in fact 100% upto date. Hell, I even heard the steam could be setup with the net connection, with help from people with upto date gcf's or somesuch nonsense, so I don't understand why there was still some dodgey version floating about.
As for going home with 500mb free Hatter, I hope all the 'nix distros you nabbed from me serve you well.
Navillus
19-12-2005, 01:06 PM
*EDIT*. remember people:
1. update steam files etc
2. close steam, start it up again to make sure the updates have held
3. close steam, THEN disconnect from the net
4. start steam, check that offline mode works
5. shut down computer properly, ie make sure steam closes gracefully
6. come to lan and find offline mode works perfectly! B)
apart from that, brilliant lan, damn i got a ton of linux distros, over 400gb worth
im still in favor of a table being set up for the major linux distro sharers so the traffic dosnt affect the rest of the network. (did ne one else notice that everyone was getting pings of like 80 during the css comp?)
next lan needs more pizza runs too :P
and maybe change pizza joint? (2 out of frikken 3 times i got the wrong pizza!! )

Yep exactly what I did, and I'm 100% certian that I was not the only one. To start with Jolt was in the exact same situation as me.
Oh and just for the record, while there were legit servers running, I was able to play just fine (during the first night of ccgl)

Steam is a very pedantic program.
Everyone does those things Navillus and still have problems... which is why I support games such as CoD2 which have definative updates and are easy to setup servers and join them.
So to all those playing CS.. all i can say is too bad, steam sucks on LAN... Play CoD2

Great lan overall, had alot of fun with the comps but i missed the bf2 one.
Hopefully there will be internet (im sure admins will find a way :) ) and maybe a few more comps.....maybe some quake 3, or fear or something.
And just wondering, is Phat 2 coming up next?
anyway great job organising admins look forward to a great lan next time.

Next LAN, comps will be organised with all possible timetables for certain Clan numbers. Players will be encouraged to organise their clans before the LAN and all Games, Maps, Game Types and Versions will be posted.
Please get organised as we do... it makes running the competitions a hell of a alot smoother.
We had a tough time running the competitions last time, especially CS, due to STEAM...
Seriously guys, when we call out for clan regos, get your clan organised and your name up on the board. I dont want to have to be chasing clans around before a comp. I should have to only correspond with Clan captains, and all info passed onto team members by them.
Competition times are going to be done alot stricter so the people who actually abide by the conditions arent sitting there wondering what is going on with Comp times.

Sounds good man.
But can i suggest one thing... Don't start the comps till well after everyone got there... I almost missed out on the bf2 comp at 29 because i couldn't get there till 10 - 11 o'clock

Note; if a team member decides to go missing in between comps, the game will start without them unless they have somebody to sub. Otherwise the team will be forced to play with one person down or possibly forfeit. We will not wait for ppl.

honestly, we have basically two days to run minimum of three comps... so sorry if this sounds heartless but if u miss out, too bad... we need a competition structure and we need to stick to it, coz the people who actually come for the posted times and do everything taht is required for the comp before hand shouldnt have to suffer for the unorganised...

With Dezzas post there comes the age old saying... You can't Please everyone.
So basically we will be posting times before the event and if you find you cant make it to that section of the LAN then sorry, but a schedule must be kept.
Given that we havent posted times before a lan, but we only had 2 weeks minimum to prepare the last LAN so things were a bit pear shaped, but next LAN we will have a schedule up before the LAN so you will have a bearing of when you need to be there for certain comps.

fair enough.
There will always be people that will whinge cause they wont make a comp, or cant make a comp, and think i comp is running at the wrong time.
People need to realise THEY arent THE lan, there are 100+ other people that can fit into a schedule......so if they can.....you can at least make an attempt to....and if u cant...then better luck next time.

The best part of the lan was where i nearly beat kitty in Q3!!! Thats almost unheard of lol.
I dont know why everyone is in love with cod2. Its basically cod 1 with a facelift. I uninstallz0red it after about 2 games.
Edit: CCGL will not tolerate the distribution of illegal games. Anyone found to be doing so at the event will be asked to leave.
But hopefully there will be like twice the peeps at phat lan than there was @ the last. And yeah dunno what people are complaining about the net not working for cuz I had it running fine.

Only prob with having another lan so soon after that last is that i dont think any new Linux Distros are coming out between now and then so the leeching side will be bunk. But hopefully there will be like twice the peeps at phat lan than there was @ the last. And yeah dunno what people are complaining about the net not working for cuz I had it running fine.

Sif leech games. Thats illegal
CCGL does not support the illegal distribution of software. If you wish to partake in illegal activites the ccgl admins would advise you to find another lan to attend. No tolerance is taken with people abusing the ccgl network for their own illegal activities.
Go buy software you cheap ass.

I thought that... at first
but there are all the subtle differences that make it better, not to mention the engaging singleplayer that mean it will stay on my hard drive for a long time to come.
multiplayer is suitably enhanced :)
