This guys server set-up has to be seen, no idea on the specs, but it doesn't look very safe.

Pics here (http://www.bulletinboardforum.com/m/homemade_web_server.php)

I would so hate to be in there if one of them caught fire.

I see a mess of cables, mobos running off boxes (nothing wrong with that, but I'd object for 24/7 usage) cpus with huge ass heatsinks and fans (so I presume overclocked) I mean why if they're just 4 folding??? you dont oc boxes in a cluster.... seriously

. . . that guy has a death wish, run them like that temperarily, but to run them like that permanantly will probably start a fire if he's not carefull :s

pretty dumb, would be more efficient to have them in cases, if only for cooling and storage space.

yeah, enclosing them in boxes is going to improve airflow...

i seriously see no problem with running pc's outside of their cases, it's not like he removed the psu from its case, that would be stupid.

what i dont get is why he took the keys off a perfectly good keyboard..... that keyboard was fine untill he striped it of its keys

emi would be the only problem I could think of, but I've seem plenty of pcs run day in day out with no emi shielding whatsoever (plenty of dodgey laptop cases offer no emi protection)

I was going to mention that, but I settled on mentioning cheap laptops instead. I really don't think emi is a big issue, but wouldn't take that tone if I was building a large cluster (or a dodgey small home cluster either)
