Telstra has been installing GPS tracking systems in their vans. They use downstream GPS and a return path 128k wireless evdo/1xrtt upstream path to send information back to telstra. The newer ilm @road 3145w units from www.road.com also come fitted with a wireless access point running on the 2.4 kernel (thankyou nmap), They may not be configured correctly but i have seen a few that were unencrypted and unsecured. You might be able to war drive and get 128k internet access.
