The drive usually comes with Sata Drivers... If not you can usually find them on the manufacturers site.
When you are installing the new ver of windows there will be a prompt:
"Press F6 to install Third Party SATA Drivers" or something to that extent... this is when you install them so your drive is picked up by the windows install...
If there is an easier way, please feel free... this is how I've done it...
The proceedure that brenden is outlining only refers to if you are running RAID..as in have turned on and created a RAID array which most likely does not apply to you...
in your case just pop in the XP cd and install as usual, no extra drivers or stuffing around needed.

as above, nothing special is required..
if you have more then one drive.. eg IDE and SATA drives, make sure to setup your boot preferences in your bios so it boots from the correct HDD..
but yeah, nothing special required
OMG Bren!!
Sif you need to install 3rd party drivers...
Thought you were MCP material :(
Ah well, yuor better off on the darkside ;)

Which is what i needed to do... :( and you guys thought I was stupid...
I was still running my old 2500+ rig :P
If I didn't boot by loading these drivers it didn't pickup the SATA driver... And you guys should know I am not up on recent things... I was just trying to give some advice, hence why I said, if I'm wrong, correct me...

ok kool, so let me get thi straight, im gonan be getting a 400gb sata and thats all im putting in it, so i will only need to boot of the cd-drive first as per usual and it should be able to pick up sata drive with the windows installation like it does with the IDE
