KiNG.Syd Take Out PIL
Team King.Syd weren't even really considered as a threat to the opposition let alone Division One winners. Rumours of internal conflict resulting in lost matches leading up to the finals had King.Syd written off as finalists. Though this team bounced back to beat Volatile (16-9), CSi (16-14) and YGS (16-14) and (19-16) respectively. Such an accomplishment by a group of inexperienced lanners should be recognised. I was able to sit down with the team and discuss their great win on the weekend.
rOzzo: First of all i'd like to congratulate you guys on winning Div 1 of the PIL league.
M1RACLES: Thanks, well done to you as well rOzzo.

rOzzo: You guys were considered underdogs coming into this final, how did you guys think you would perform?
M1RACLES: Honestly, I thought we would of gotten smashed against voL.
GenX: I was pretty nervous comming to lan this was my first tournment i was unsure of how i was going to play with some rusty play half way threw the league i knew I had to pull my socks up.
Cozeh: Coming into the finals, I really thought we would have tough chance of making through the first match against volatile, our teams experience was always going to be a negative but we had to take it round by round
Stnz: Well I thought we would lose all our games because Dippa predicted us in a placing of 4th and we hadnt pracced for 3 weeks.
JinX: Well, I thought we'd have a pretty good chance in the finals, thing is we only got 1 life which made that theory difficult.
rOzzo: What were some critical rounds in your games that you believe were a turning point in the match?
GenX: Sooie's 3 v 1 on de_nuke against CSi was just a huge round for us brought the game back for us in a huge way when push came to shove we all made our shots
Cozeh: I think there were some big rounds all over the board, some nice pistol rounds from Jinx and especially Sooie's against CSi, and also Linda's snap against voL, but everyone contributed so it was all good :D. Stunna's numerous clutches against volatile were also very helpful. M1RACLES and JinX's awp on d2. 1v1 against someone, smoke everywhere, somehow saw him and fkn shot awped him.
Stnz: The highlight clutch of the day was Genx's first lan clutch against YGS which made him fireup and frag on lan.
JinX: Sooie's 3v1 against csi, if he didnt win that would of been extremely hard beating csi in the overtime rounds since they're a top team.
rOzzo: You guys lost the halves of the matches by quite a large margin (12-3) YGS (11-4) CSi, how did you guys gain the confidence to bounce back from this.
Cozeh: I guess I had to motivate the team alot and keep them thinking positive, as well as that we backed our aim and ability to turn the table on any round and at any given time. Coming into the match as big time under dogs we had nothing else to rely on.
GenX: I really think we were just very unsure of what to do and then comming into the next half with YGS/CSi games losing more then 10 rounds on our first half we new that we needed to get it going and we were just able to get it together and grab all the rounds we needed we just felt we could always outpick the team.
Stnz: Striving to win money from a game and also beat Apoc in the finals made our team realise we had to win and comeback.
JinX: Yeah i thought to myself anything is possible, but that margin was huge, we just played very well knowing that we got nothing to lose and our teamwork came together and some very nice clutch rounds by everyone helped us to win the games :D
rOzzo: Did you guys practice much leading into the finals?
GenX: No we havn't played together since week 4 outside of lan.
Cozeh: We just came as a ringer team to get some headshots and maybe win some money, apart from that it was a good experience
Stnz: we hadnt pracced for roughly 3 weeks because king was DeaD.
JinX: I think we prac'd once in 4 weeks since the team sorta fell apart a couple of weeks ago, but we had our hopes high
coN`rOzzo: Who's your pick for MVP throughout the league and also in the finals?
GenX: Sooie (M1RACLES) had a pretty good league run but in the finals I cant choose one player I think we were all MVP we just were mixing up well as a team.
Cozeh: My most valued player here has to be stunna, throughout the season he just got better and had a reputation for being online, his ingame smarts was always really reassuring and probably the only player in the team i can trust 100% :P.
Stnz: MVP goes between either jiNx or gEnx, jinx having xtreme frag ability and always fragging with the big green gun or genx providing guns at all costs and also firing up the team in all situations.
JinX: I would say sooie for the league, in finals most likely stunna/cozeh, got us through some tough rounds which would make us or break us in the games. It's hard to judge the real MVP for the finals because everyone chipped in when we needed it most.
rOzzo: There has been talk of you guys splitting up as a clan, can you guys confirm this, and if you are will you be making a team in the future?
M1RACLES: Maybe in the future but the team has disbanded atm with jinx joining rhythm (goodluck) and me making a new king division.
GenX: At the current stage the team is in shambles people are unsure of what they're doing and others know what they're doing hopefully we can work this out seeming as we did just win a competition I dont feel there is a need to create or branch off into new teams.
Cozeh: Due to the team's inactivity recently and a bit of lack of confidence in the team for upcoming nationals, what we are doing as of yet is unsure and king is split up, something may happen in the future.
Stnz: KING.syd has been basically dead for the last 3 weeks or so, with Busta joining progamer, jinx going to Rhythm and Genx going to Instinct .. we all decided to finish off pil though.
JinX: Yeah, we are splitting as a clan, but i would love if we all stayed, get on heaps well, play well, its all good :). Time will tell.
