if i was for instance wanting to run bf1942.exe, i would type wine bf1942.exe and if you are using winex it would be winex3 bf1942.exe

if u wanna do any form of ganing you will need winex 3.2 which you can get off me next lan, but currently there is limited support for directplay, meaning some networking features currently dont work

Thats actually piracy, not something I thought was promoted around here. Winex is a nice thing to have (it supports quite a few games a lot better) and isn't cheap to get. You pay a monthly subscription to access the download area which only costs around $4.95 US a month.

In regards to setting up wine, have a look at the following tool

how is that piracy? i compiled it from a cvs and am going to give it to him for free

anyway nice to see another fellow atomican here, welcome snakeoil

winex & winex from cvs are two slightly different things. As from the website

"Pre-built packages of WineX contain components licensed from third parties, and may not be redistributed in whole for any reason. "

Apologies for pointing the finger a little bit to quickly on that, but I don't get why anybody would bother with the cvs version. The prepackaged ones include stuff that isn't in cvs (that are required for some games) and aren't cheap to go.

Version 3.3 is actually pretty nice.. all I need to do is try out steam with it now.

Thanks Heaps,

With Browsing the net I found Winex3.3 and with those tools it is now working great.

I can install some windows stuff now. :)

Thanks for all your help.

The cvs wine's are more current than the prepackaged ones. Whilst the pre's have extra features, the extra functionality usually comes from cvs, sort of a big point of cvs.

. the date. The reason people have conversation is for (usually) edification. My reply was not time sensitive, neither was the topic at hand. If you feel like complaining about old threads call life line, they might care.
