click on scripts
I downloaded the GetUserCVSWineX script

run the script and it takes care of everything
then run the standard steam installer

either that or you can pay the $4.95 a month US and access the real binaries they release. As per the link you put up

"Please remember that WineX CVS is not the same as the binary package. Binaries are stable releases that include some proprietary stuff TransGaming can't open source (such as Install Shield support and copy protection)."
