i'm looking to build myself a new rig to be used for gaming as well as 3d rendering, and dropping about 3k into the box... if you had 3k sitting around and wanted to upgrade, what would you be getting?
Sli Mobo Of Some Sort.
E6600 Dual Core - O'C'd to 3Ghz
(Maybe go quad core if the price drops enough)
4gig of DDR2 Ram
2 x Leadtek 8800GTXs
850w PSU - Coolermaster ?
Vista Ultimate OEM.
Cheapy case. Use old HDs, Use old CD/DVD.
I built my system for $1900...at the pc fair...If I had waited I could have saved about $250-$300. Specs in sig below -

send the quote to AlCaTrAzz@aussieholdempoker.com.au
basicly the 3k has to cover everything in the tower, i dont need new monitors or kb/mouse, but i woudl like it to cover HDD's as well

Are you after HDD space, or HDD speed.. cause these days, its the same price for a 320g as it is for a 36g raptor

preferably a 2x 32g 10,000 raid for the os with as much storage besides that as i can get... somthing around the 2x 500gig drive mark would be nice
and have been looking around at that asus striker board... apparently the overclocking leaves alot to be desired... the boards based on the 680i SLI reference board seem the way to go...
and i'd be more than happy with just 1 8800GTX for now as well, as much as it hurts me to say it, i dont have as much time to game these days as i would like...

Hey Alc, was just looking at whats available, for 3500 i could do you a great machine, 3000 is a bit low for a uber uber uber rig.
