At least we have the sense to do our hard driving off the busy streets of everywhere else ffs. Leave us alone and we won't start systematically destroying speed cameras and sabotaging the hiway patrol cars.

score!

STREET racing on the Pacific Highway is terrifying residents and putting lives at risk between Cowan and Mount White.

The Mooney Cheero Progress Association has written to the Roads and Traffic Authority, Gosford Council and the police to demand action.
They said hoons in hotted-up cars were congregating at Cowan before driving in-convoy to Mount White at ``breakneck'' speed.
Traditionally motorcyclists have been blamed for speeding along this stretch.
However the association said motorcyclists had largely been shut down after the speed limit was dropped to 60km/h and police began high visibility patrols on weekends.
Association spokeswoman Robyn Green said street racers in modified cars had discovered the road and were exploiting an almost non-existent police presence on week nights.
She said it started with convoys of cars racing through the area in the middle of the night.
``Now it's as early as 8.30pm when you're coming home from a meeting or picking up the kids from training,'' Mrs Green said.
The association is worried the rampaging drivers were putting themselves and everyone else at risk.
Association secretary Alan Barrett said on one occasion he turned right from the highway into Cheero Point Rd when he was overtaken despite double white lines and a blind corner ahead.
He slammed on the breaks in shock and blocked the path of the following posse who blasted their horns.
``There is an increasing number who can't believe their luck,'' Mr Barrett said.
``This stretch of road is apparently free of policing and other deterrents to seriously irresponsible and dangerous driving.
``We request the police, council and the authority to conduct a detailed review of this situation at the earliest opportunity.''

I suggest we all write in and suggest they move the residents instead. that or give the race track they were going to build behind gosford the go ahead.

Edit: Letter to Editor sent :)

:o lol

when cruises happen on old pac, most of the drivers are conciderate of the residential areas, nothing worse than some kid chasing a ball or on a bike coming out infront of you at any speed

Yeah I've got to time for the real 'street racers' that fly around residental areas. Its 50ks in my street for a reason ffs. Put the speed cameras where they belong, on 50k streets and in front of schools.

places ud expect to see a speed camera there isn't, then u got places where there is no need for a camera, its just wacked on a main road cause it has a higher return of revenue.. tis foobar

For them it IS their residential area.

As much as driving on the old pac is fun, everyone knows that when you are speeding up there you ARE breaking the law. The residents up there have every right to protest and complain, I know I would. Would you want some f'king hoon flying past your driveway at 90+km/h while you are trying to get out ? I do really hope that people who drive up their have at least half a brain and can see it from the residents point of view.

Its a public road, obey the law. You want to race, fork out the cash and get yourself onto a race track. And if you do get caught, or you don't like it when people get shitty at you for driving stupidly on public roads.....grow the fuck up and realise that public roads aren't designed and maintained for your racing pleasure.

Don't like me opinion anyone ? Then please respond with an intelligent response that can be backed up...k..thanx :)

Just thought I'd add....I'm not AGAINST driving adventurously....I'm just annoyed at people too stupid to realise when they are risking theirs and other peoples lives, and think its perfectly ok for them to be speeding on public roads.

Theres a time and a place...and past peoples houses on the old pac isnt one of them.

``Now it's as early as 8.30pm when you're coming home from a meeting or picking up the kids from training,'' Mrs Green said.

wtf is this shit, nobody that has kids that would goto "training" would be picking them up at 8:30pm.. seriously

apart from that, yeah, if there was a track like they were planning it wouldn't be a problem, or i don't know, maybe it might make it worse?

we should organse a trip down to oran park or somthing for one of the track days, i'd love to see how the civics tight cornering compared to say an XR6T's abuse of the straights...

Fair drive out to Oran Park (or Eastern Creek as another option) I can understand why a lot of coasties wouldn't seriously consider it.

We should have like a group track day for some of us ccglers that are intersted.

*me raises hand as being interested ^_^

Soccer
Indoor Soccer
Little Athletics

Just to name a few..

PLUS they live up there, and she says - "as early as 8.30pm when you're coming home".

It isnt a quick 5 min trip to anywhere on the coast from up there, takes longer. By the time they get up there from a venue or meeting on the coast its gonna be late.

i think when we go for cruises we are pretty behaved around the reso areas

a propper track would be nice, but i doubt there would be a huge amount of support for it up here

I don't see the problem with residential areas, since during rallies around the world they tend to fly through the middle of little towns. The public just needs to know and the road needs to be set up for it.

Be aware that there IS a race track up on the mountain.

Problem being it is privately owned, and security is pretty on the ball as theres only one road in.

It does exist, I have seen parts of it with binoculars when a friend and I checked it out one day.

I think previous efforts by others to gain access have been denied/ignored.

Indeed there is, tho I wasn't able to see much of it from the gate. It shows up on google maps pretty easily when your view it from map or hybrid view.

Is it worth us finding out who owns it and if they'd be interested in renting it out?

Course face to face is difficult when you're faced by a huge gate and fence. Guess I could buy an awp and camp at the gate until he comes out.

the track at cent mangrove is a no go. the ceo of coke owns it. many have tried to get him to open it up but to run a track day it would cost him up to $35000 in insurance and he can't accept any payment because it is a private track and the only reason he has it is because it is private.
