Need extra power socket for external HDD

Are there usually free power sockets on the boards?

most of the time we try not to allow more than 2 as another thread suggestions ...

your entry fee covers you for the duration of the event and assigns you only two power poitns 1 pc 1 monitor ... and there are times when admins will walk around to double check that this is happening.

As long as u only use 2 sockets its fine by us.

Although really its not really the admins you have to be scared of, with rigs pulling more and more juice these days a little more draw and off goes the power to the entire table.

so 24+ angry lanners without power because of 1 person and their silly external drive = not pretty

lol looking back @ the lan now ... there was someone with i think 3 external hdd's ... almost felt like turkey slappin him!

Mod your external drives (and otehr hardware) to runn off a molex. Then winge that your power supply isn't big enough. :)
I know some guy at out table brought his own powerboard which isn't good, but thumbs up to turri and the gang for keeping the power flowing.

i think "the gang" did really well on the weekend ...

and i think we'll have to get dezza to write up a how to convert external hdd's to run off molex, and post it everytime people ask for more power.

that's easy, you take the drive case apart and pull out the hdd, then you open your case sides and plug it in when your done unplug it put it back in the case

note, don't plug in or unplug anything with the power on in your computer
