Hey Guys & Gals,

Thanks to everyone who came to the event, was good to see the old and new faces!

This is basically a feedback thread, we'd like to hear what the event was like from your perspective so we can improve and make it better :)

The venue we currently have is really orsm, so you can look forward to more lans being run there! :D

lan wasn't bad, ut2004 comp went well, with the sudden death CTF-1vs1-Joust going well before the final.

sat night in the smaller room was good fun, lots of WC3 and weird video's ;)

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it is my PERSONAL opinion on ccgl 34 (my first ccgl)

Firstly the negitives.
- The amout of ACTUAL gamers at the lan. POPLE GET YOUR GAME ON!
- The lack of competitive teams. To give an example my css team won the css comp without lossing a single round. Not a match, A ROUND (ie. 16-0) There must be some way you can grab the attention on other teams.
- The lack of organisation of the comps. This is not for all comps, while some need slight improvement, others need major surgery. I thought logik did well with the css comp (especailly with SRCTV witch can be a bitch) on the other hand IMO the cod2 tournement was horrible and really needs to be fixed for future events. i mean tdm should not be played in a comp and restarting the map is not cool.
- The prizes. To start the lack of prizes hurts, come on admins get off your computer and go get some sponsors! The more prizes the more teams imsure will show at these lans. ** ALSO, after finding out that the UT2004 comp was "Cash Prizes" i quickley signed up. After Winning :) the comp i waited paitently for my cash, even into the sunday only to find out that i had been Jipped. OH THE LIES! please do NOT let this happen again, it is very shameful and can be extremley bad rep towards CCGL and the admins.

Ok so enough about the Negitivies

Positivies

- I thought the UT2004 comp was run extremley professionally and was glad to be apart of it (stupid prizes!) *claps* alc
- The Lan seems to be a friendly environment and can be apreciated by all.
- The venue was great!
- The admins are of great help

Personally i would like to thank jason for lending me a monitor, it really saved alot of trouble. And also i would like to thank logic for helping me with a few HDD problems. Thanks guys

Overall not the best LAN i have been to and can be improved. With these things improved im sure will come more lanners and a much more awesome lan.

The venue is definitly good, there are great plans for it's improvements, they are actually going to be building another massive room for us, which should be somewhat similar in length to double that of the members stand at the race course... short term we're discussing upgrading the aircon in the first 2 rooms with the officals, moving from 2 x 1.5 units to a pair of 3.0 or 4.o KW units...we shall see.

the Power is now down pat, as far as I'm aware we have not had any issues with droppouts and we have a nice fat knuckle to work off :)

The network is OK at the moment, however we have had trouble with the links to the smaller room most of this did not get done in it's usual manor due to getting stuffed around with the tables on the day of the setup ;( (we had 20 min to get the network up) which led to not enough testing time etc etc. should be better next time.

There isn't a whole lot of good sleeping area...while we do not offically sleep we might have to look into organising something...we'll discuss this at the next admin meeting.

The Comps however need so much work it's not funny, we need ONLY admins running these.

I think CCGL #34 was great, it was good to see different people.
The venue is great and it was nice to know my way around the dang place!
I think there was some problems though;
People using their laptop speakers rather then their headphones, there is a rule for headphones.
The lack of comeptitive gaming. (not too many people seemed up for it!)
In the smaller room, the network was a little dodgey and a lot of people seemed to be having problems with it (including myself)

but besides that, nothing.
It was great and thanks to admin, dark messiah is a great game ;)

Was mad fun, good to see the old faces again. The only probs for me was the network in the small room was a bit tempermental(spelling), and I was woken up at 4 in the morning only to find some jap dude freaking people out (people in the small room will know what I'm talking about). Ohh and the LAN NEEDS MORE COWBELL

Thanks for your feedback in regards to the network in the smaller room...

Next time i wont use the patch panel that is already between the 2 rooms. Just in case this was the problem... However... some of the cases were people that dont know how to use there computers....

Some of the other problems you may have had is the fact that for the following:

1. People were using DHCP... While servers have to be static... Which interfere with each other.... me having address 73 which the DHCP was trying to assign.

2. Somone removed cables from the gig switch and plugged them into the 10/100 switch below... this took me almost an hour to find....

For Future Reference of Lanners!
Please DO NOT UNPLUG CABLES FROM THE GIG SWITCH!
They are in the gig switch for a reason....

P.S. Kittie - Monitor!

Yo,

I would like to raise the issue about table arangements as i think they are to close together for my liking for example:

When I am moving in and out of my chair I am constantly having to get people to move their chairs in so that I can get past them and it annoys the hell out of me as it would them.

Also moving my computer in and out of that small area with people still there due to lack of room makes it a little bit dangerous for peoples heads.
