CCGL 38 26th - 28th September 2008

Hey all

Few updates for CCGL 38.

GUITAR HERO COMP

We will be running a GUITAR HERO comp on the Mighty WII - it will be set up on a big screen and available for prac and comp over the weekend. I’m sure there will be other games available to those interested.

EVENT REGISTRATION - RESERVED SEATING

This lan we will only provide Tables /seating to meet the numbers that register for CCGL 38.
e.g. 78 people register then there will be 78 places available.
 
Any spare room will be allocated to sleeping areas. Last event a few people decided to sleep on tables which isn’t a good practice. If you have registered on the player list a seat will be available to you over the entire weekend.

IMPORTANT NOTE - Reserved seating for those that have PRE -PAYED.
Reserved seats are identified by a chair being on the table and a name on the back.
All non reserved seats will have the chair on the floor.
So if you haven’t reserved a seat you can sit anywhere as long as the chair provided is on the floor.

SLEEPING

If you are planning to sleep over the weekend make sure you bring something to sleep on. Although it wont be as cold as before is certainly is more comfortable. Storage room will be made available for this.

COMPETITION REGISTRATION

People wanting to participate in comps make sure you and or your team register before event. This helps us to plan the weekend especially Sat (Comp day) more effectively and allow us to run more comps.

SERVERS

We have 10 spots available for people wishing to bring a 2nd PC (Server). You will have to email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to reserve a spot. Remote desktop essential and UPS is a good idea too. This option is provided as power and room is not available in the general player area for 2nd computers.

We are halfway through our LAN Developement Programe and we are going pretty much to plan.

PREPAY SYSTEM
Thanks to all those who prepayed - worked really well so we will continue to use it - "sign in" for those who utilised this system was just so easy. Zal scored the Pre-Pay Prize :)

Car rego list - Thanks to all those who listed their cars during sign in - helps us prevent people being parked in.

NETWORK
Trial GIG switch worked well last event so have taken the plunge and ordered 6 new 24 port Full GIG Layered switches which we expect to arrive before next LAN - lots of trunking.

POWER
Upgrade 2 held all weekend so will be adding another 32A 3 phase circuit which will support admin area and client servers. A few power issues arose that have been fixed.

COMPETITIONS
Comps ran well bar the odd "waiting game" for players to install / upgrade their games and some network dropouts.
Our comp servers run from Friday for players to get organised BEFORE the comps start.

Friday is setup - Saturday is Comp day. Comps are planned to run from 10 am - 10 pm so if your planning to enter GET SOME SLEEP before hand :)

As we attemp to run more comps we wont be so forgiving to players that dont get organised before the comps start.
We are giving away a third of the door money in Cash Prizes and investing heavily to provide stable POWER/NETWORK to limit possible problems that may occur so if you want participate plan your weekend.

A big thankyou to GECKO for helping us out with the UT Comp.
